CSIRO ScholarshipsThrough the CSIRO Postgraduate Scholarship and the National Research Programs, full and top-up scholarships are available to science and engineering graduates who have enrolled as postgraduate students for research leading to the award of PhD. Students undertaking their PhD at CSIRO are co-supervised by a university, allowing students to maintain and develop their university connections while working in world class facilities alongside Australia’s leading research scientists. Recipients of Postgraduate Scholarships are generally required to be Australian citizens or have permanent residency status. However, in fields in which there is a national skill shortage, scholarships may be awarded to overseas candidates, provided they are prepared to seek permanent residency during the studentship. |

MERIWAThe Minerals and Energy Research Institute of Western Australia (MERIWA) is a statutory body established to encourage development of the minerals and energy industries. MERIWA fosters and promotes all aspects of minerals and fossil-fuel energy research, principally by granting funding for worthwhile research projects and co-ordinating industry sponsorship. MERIWA awards one or two post-graduate 'top-up' scholarships annually to recipients selected by written application and an interview following short-listing. Selection is based on the relevance of the applicant's post-graduate studies to the Western Australian minerals or petroleum industry, on the applicant's academic record and interview presentation, and on references. Scholarships are awarded for up to 3 years and consist of a $5 000 stipend and $5 000 toward the recipient's research project expenses, annually. Awards can be made at any time during the student's graduate career. |
